This week our Moho Featured Artist is Daz Buddies Studios, led by his director Jesus Mendoza 🔥 They are the creators of "Daz Buddies", a children animated Youtube series fully made with Moho. ✨ 

Tell us about yourself

Daz Buddies Studio is a creative venture that was born out of a shared passion for storytelling and animation. Based in Monterrey, México, and the Texas Rio Grande Valley our team of talented artists and animators came together with the vision of not just creating an animated series, but establishing a name for ourselves in the world of animation. Led by creator Jesus Mendoza brings a wealth of experience in management, we set out to create content that not only entertains but also educates.

The studio officially took shape in late September 2023, with the goal of producing shorts and eventually venturing into feature films. With a team of five dedicated associate artists, we set out on this exciting journey, fueled by our collective love for animals children's wellbeing and storytelling.

Servando Torres, one of our team members recommended Moho after Lost Marble announced Moho 14. None of us had prior experience with it, but Ivan Rascón, Technical Director, quickly mastered rigging in less than a month. Through him we learned enough to release an animated music video in the same timeframe. Since then, our output has been steadily improving, thanks in large part to Moho.

Where do you get inspiration?

Our inspiration stems from our deep-rooted love for animals and the art of storytelling. Drawing from our team's diverse backgrounds and interests, we strive to create content that strikes a balance between entertainment and education. Whether it's exploring the antics of lovable animal characters or weaving narratives that resonate with audiences of all ages, our inspiration comes from the world around us and the stories waiting to be told.

What’s your hardware setup?

In our studio, we have a mix of hardware setups tailored to the specific needs of each team member. On average, our workstations are equipped with high-performance specs such as an i7 processor, RTX 3060 graphics card, and 32GB of RAM. This setup ensures that our artists have the necessary tools to bring their creative visions to life efficiently and effectively.

What do you like best about Moho?

Moho has quickly become an indispensable tool in our animation workflow, thanks to its versatile features and user-friendly interface. One of the standout features we appreciate is the intuitive rigging system, which allows our team to create complex character rigs with ease. Additionally, the export functions in Moho streamline our workflow, making it effortless to organize and manage project assets. The referencing system and library asset management tools have also proven to be invaluable in setting up scenes and maintaining a cohesive project structure.

How has Moho helped you in your creative process?

Moho has had a transformative impact on our creative process, empowering our team to bring their ideas to life with precision and efficiency. From vector art and shape editing tools to smart bones that enhance character animation, Moho provides us with the flexibility and control needed to realize our creative vision. Whether it's tweaking character rigs on the fly or troubleshooting complex animation challenges, Moho instills confidence in our team, knowing that we have a reliable tool at our disposal.

Can you talk about the “Daz Buddies" series and how it was made using Moho?

"Daz Buddies" is a heartwarming animated series created by Jesus Mendoza, with a mission to educate children about pet safety. Inspired by the lack of adequate pet safety education for kids, the series follows the adventures of lovable animal characters who teach valuable lessons in a fun and engaging way. Moho played a crucial role in bringing "Daz Buddies" to life, offering a scalable solution and robust file sharing capabilities that streamlined the animation process. With the support of the Moho team and their wealth of resources, we were able to create captivating animations that resonate with audiences of all ages.

How has Moho improved your pipeline workflow?

Moho has significantly enhanced our pipeline workflow, enabling us to streamline production processes and optimize collaboration among team members. Our Art Director, Ximena Treviño, highlights the reliability of Moho in storing and managing assets efficiently. The lightweight nature of Moho files allows us to handle a large volume of assets with ease, while each department leader has been able to create customized pipelines within Moho to enhance productivity and creativity. By integrating Moho into our workflow, we have achieved greater efficiency and cohesion across all stages of production.
