Tell us about yourself
Â
My name is Edmundo Landaverde, I’m 39 years old and I’m co-founder of a small animation studio. My work is focused in 2D character animation, whether is cutout or frame by frame. I also work using Moho on my own or teamed up with my college Curubito Productions. I’m also an illustrator and cartoonist but my main task is animation.
I’ve drawn ever since I have memories, due to an accident when I was 3 years old. I almost die and I had to do therapy to recover the movement in my hands by doing tons of circle drawings, so my father as a Mickey Mouse fan, made me draw the character using 3 circles for the head, eyes and ears. Once I was better, I even got use to draw all the time.
Â
Â
Where do you get inspiration?
Â
My inspiration comes from different sources, fantasy art, comics, mangas, animes, video games, classic art… Even today from memes lol.
Â
Â
What’s your hardware setup?
I work in a PC intel i7, 5 GB video card, 32 GB RAM. A regular monitor of 32'' and a 27" Wacom Cintiq tablet.
Â
Â
What do you like best about Moho?
Its powerful rigging system! I’m a Moho user since 2004, when I found the software in an old studio I used to work and since the first day I felt in love with its possibilities.
Â
Â
Â
How has Moho helped you in your creative process?
It has helped me to produce animation in a faster way, with great quality to all the productions I’ve been involved, specially in TV commercials where we don’t have much time for each project.
Â
Â
Â
What’s your favorite project made with Moho?
I’ve been animating since 2005, so it’s difficult to choose one because there’s so many projects made using Moho that I can consider as favorites. It’s a father who has to say who’s his favorite child. A project that always comes to my mind it’s a TV commercial for a donut company made in 2012. In that moment I didn’t use Moho’s vectors too much so I used to import PNG files directly from Photoshop.
Â
Â
Would you consider Moho an industry tool?
Â
Of course! I understand that most of the animation studios already have their pipeline defined and it’s difficult to learn and use new software/tools, but Moho is one of those jewels that must be included in more animated productions. Moho really has the most powerful and intuitive rigging system.
By personal experience, I can say Moho has been the only animation tool which allows me to produce 20 seconds of straight animation in one day only, without compromising the quality of the result, leaving me completely satisfied. Nowadays, we work with a broader team using Moho, allowing us to create even more content. We’re currently working in a big project doing character animation using Moho with the talented Julie Perla. We’ve both produced 10-11 minutes of animation in the last 3 weeks.
In a very demanding industry like ours, Moho is the perfect tool!
